MEET THE INDUSTRIOUS VINTNERS PIONEERING A BETTER TOMORROW
"With seven decades of vineyard tending in our family, we feel part of the land, and thus we understand it better than anyone." - Guillermo Herrera, Founder, Herencia Del Valle
Due to the boutique nature of wine making, and critically acclaimed reputation, acquiring Herencia Del Valle wines can be quite a challenge. Their most recent acclaimed 2014 vintage produced only 150 cases, and critics, collectors, and wine lovers alike are vying to get their hands on a bottle.
Herencia Del Valle wines are so preciously rare, that there are no available tasting appointments to the public. However, you can request an allocation via their website HerenciaWines.com to receive a notification when a vintage becomes available. The Herencia Wine Club is limited access, by invitation only, and includes an annual vineyard tour, wine tasting, and Michelin Guide Recommended winery dinner.
How did Napa Valley’s preeminent boutique Cabernet house come to fruition?
Owners Guillermo and Angelica Herrera may have grown up not knowing each other, but they both grew up living and working in The Napa Valley vineyards. Both children of immigrant workers, they both learned the old world values of hard work, determination, and living with minimal resources. For decades, their families had been proudly doing back-breaking work in the vineyards. Through true grit and grace of God, they found each other, and have grown their boutique winery into an acclaimed cult-classic winery.
“Each bottle has been carefully crafted to reflect the depth of our heritage, and the personality of The Napa Valley Terroir." - Guillermo Herrera, Founder, Herencia Del Valle
From the first harvest in 2007 under the guidance of Herencia Del Valle Founder Guillermo Herrera, it became clear that - despite industry skepticism - not only had the right decision been made to craft Cabernet Sauvignon in small lots, but the meticulously selected vineyards and fruit produced extraordinary results. Forgoing conventional wisdom from the beginning, Herencia Del Valle wines are crafted through a host of vineyards that are never cultivated side-by-side, an audacious decision that has created a stir in the prestigious wine growing community. Encouraged by his wife, family, and friends, and his dedication to excellence, Herencia Del Valle has turned out a series of wines that have garnered substantial critical acclaim from the wine industry, including Wine Enthusiast, The Tasting Panel, and Wine Lovers worldwide.
Most recently, Herencia Del Valle wines have been awarded 93+ points from Wine Enthusiast, 91+ points from The Tasting Panel, as well as Gold medals from the SF Chronicle Wine Competition, and New York World Wine & Spirits Competition.
Out of the 45,000 acres of vineyards in The Napa Valley, Herencia Wines sources fruit only from vineyards they know and trust. Home to diverse microclimates and unique soils, The Napa Valley vineyard selection and development process is intricate and intimate. The Herrera family experience in farming and vineyard cultivation is seven decades deep and peaks with their sister company Heritage Vineyard Management —the preeminent viticultural management company in The Napa Valley.
